Highlights from the SyncroSim User Conference
The SyncroSim 2023 User Conference, held this past September in Fort Collins Colorado, was a great success, bringing together SyncroSim users from across government, industry, NGOs, and academia – from folks working with SyncroSim to support decisions in complex ecological systems, to developers of SyncroSim packages and the core SyncroSim software.
Presentations
The conference kicked-off with a memorable keynote presentation by Jim Smith, the Project Lead for The Nature Conservancy’s LANDFIRE Team.
Next, more than 25 contributed talks showcased the diversity of applications of SyncroSim, including:
- Applied conservation across a wide range of ecosystems and spatial scales
- Forecasting the effects of landscape change on various ecosystem services
- Incorporating new models within SyncroSim, including models of species distribution, connectivity and fire behavior
- Novel approaches for parameterizing models and integrating multiple sources of data
